Assessment (Your Grade)
NEW (as of 4/6/11) REASSESSMENT POLICY
Reassessments will still be offered. However, the highest grade possible on the second reassessment (third assessment total) will be an 85%. Any further reassessments beyond the second will be handled on a case by case basis.
100% Assessment Statements and Labs
To succeed in this course, you will need to be able to show your mastery of many ideas labeled "assessment statements," as well as labs. These will be assessed on quizzes, tests, labs, etc. You will have opportunities to be reassessed on the material if you score poorly. All assessments will be cumulative, that is, you will be responsible for all content throughout the year. Exams will be given every nine weeks and will be cumulative. These exams are not repeatable as they are designed to assess your retention of knowledge.
I will give homework almost every night. Homework is practice and it will not be counted in your grade. It is up to you to decide the amount of homework you must do to be successful. In-class work is also practice and will not count toward your final grade. However, scores for these activities may appear in the grade book accessible to you and your parents. This allows everyone to keep track of your effort and commitment.
WARNING!!! Very few students perform well on the tests and labs (100% of the grade) without working outside of class (doing their homework).
